"Happiness is excitement that has found a settling down place, but there is always a little corner that keeps flapping around."
E. L. Konigsburg
After closing Betsy Ratzsch Pottery in May of 2013 much time and creativity was involved in building my new home studio - my happy settling down place. I love this airy new work place up among the tree tops on the second floor. Pottery was wonderful for 40 years but I am discovering new worlds in wool felting. Examples can be seen on the product pages of this website. I have continued with the bronze jewelry that was first seen in Betsy Ratzsch Pottery.
Gallery management was interesting, but took energy and time that I can now use toward this new phase of my life as an artist. I do miss my customer/friends. Come to the Handworks show on November 3, 2018 and say hello !
After many years as a production potter and gallery owner I am now in another phase of my creative life. Freedom from retail demands allows me more time to explore new pathways and new materials. This space will allow me to communicate with former customers and new ones.
Currently, I continue to explore dry needle felting, bronze jewelry, and encaustic painting. Please visit our products page to see examples. I'm really having a great time playing.
Another new pleasure is volunteer hours at Lowell Arts, Lowell, Michigan. Currently, I serve on the Gallery Committee which involves hanging exhibits, help with jurying exhibits, and am a member of the Board. The Lowell Arts community has been warm and welcoming.
I took this picture from a window of my little haven during a snowstorm last winter. It captures the serenity and tranquility which I so often feel in my cozy little aerie.
